I'm a huge fan of the Naruto series and have probably played almost every game that has come out in the States. The next Naruto game to come out is Naruto: Ninja Destiny for the DS, and we were lucky enough to be a part of a conference call for the upcoming game. Oh, but this wasn't just any conference call, but one with the actual voice actors from the series! If you want to talk about an otaku being in heaven look no further than right here. Actors Maile Flanagan (Naruto), Kate Higgins (Sakura), Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke), and Brian Donovan (Rock Lee) were all on the call to talk about the game and what it has been like voicing these characters. 'My Horse and Me' Interview - Dane Cypel

Submitted by thankeeka on January 31, 2008 - 10:11am. Exclusive Interviews

I've been a fan of horse based sports since reading the biography of Seabiscuit, a book that was emotionally moving and shed a lot of insight into the world of horse racing and horses in general. For many people like me, however, the closest we'll ever come to owning a horse is through videogame form, and luckily we've got games like My Horse and Me to come along and help bring our dreams to life. We got to chat with My Horse and Me's producer - Dane Cypel - about the upcoming game and what we can expect.

Submitted by thankeeka on January 29, 2008 - 9:56am. Exclusive Interviews

Is it any surprise that there is yet another Naruto videogame coming out? I mean, it's arguably the most popular anime series currently airing, and cosplayers everywhere gobble up every volume of the manga whenever it's released. So why should you care about another Naruto game on the DS? Oh, I don't know, how about the first ever 3D Naruto fighter available for Nintendo's portable system. Yeah, I thought you'd perk up at that. Killer Betties was lucky enough to be involved with a conference call recently, where the game's associate producer at Tomy – Nobby Matsuo – answered our questions and shed some light on Naruto's next big game.

The Dragonball Z series hasn't had any new episodes in a long time, though you can still find reruns on Cartoon Network. However, though there hasn't been any new manga pages or anime episodes for some time, there have been plenty of videogames to keep the spirit of the franchise alive and well. The highly popular Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series is set to hit the PS2 and Wii soon with installment three, and is doing something the series has never done before – bringing the hectic powerhouse fights of the Dragonball Z franchise online. While getting ready for the game we got to ask Donny Clay, producer of DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, some questions to see just what the game is going to have to offer this time around.

'Godzilla: Unleashed' Interview - Shelby Wills

Submitted by thankeeka on October 4, 2007 - 1:51pm. Exclusive Interviews

I can remember growing up and turning to a local TV channel on Sunday mornings on the off-chance that they'd be showing a Godzilla movie, and I'd sit through the whole thing, bad dubbing and all, but I didn't care – I just wanted to see Godzilla…or more specifically Godzilla fighting other monsters! For those Godzilla fans who don't want to just see monsters fight but actually control them, then Godzilla: Unleashed looks like it will be just the Toho monster fighter for you. We got to ask Shelby Wills, Godzilla: Unleashed's producer at Pipeworks, some questions about the upcoming game to find out as much as we could about Godzilla's latest outing in the world of videogames.

'NBA 2K8' Interview - Rob Jones, Mike Wang, and Erick Boenisch

Submitted by thankeeka on October 1, 2007 - 9:03am. Exclusive Interviews

The football season is in full swing now, but that doesn't mean there isn't another sport waiting in the wings, ready to invade coliseums and hit television all over the country relatively soon – we're talking about NBA basketball. Though basketball is a little ways off, the videogames are just hitting the market, and we were fortunate enough to get to participate in a conference call with some people involved in this year's NBA 2K8 (Rob Jones - Gameplay Project Manager, 2K Sports; Mike Wang - Lead Gameplay Designer, 2K Sports; and Erick Boenisch - Lead Features Designer, 2K Sports) to see why just what is going to set this year's game apart from the competition, and why NBA 2K8 is going to be the basketball game of choice.

'NHL 2K8' Interview - Scott Krager and Colin O'Hara

Submitted by thankeeka on September 6, 2007 - 7:17pm. Exclusive Interviews

Hockey seems to be a sport that is constantly overlooked, but as I've learned watching my own Carolina Hurricanes struggle through the season and into the playoffs, when you get sucked in it can be the best sport you never really paid attention to in the first place. Sure, it's the opening weekend of football season, but perhaps those players sliding on the ice should be the ones getting more attention than those on the turf. In a recent conference call, we got to have Scott Krager - Project Manager, Kush Games – and Colin O'Hara - Lead Designer, Kush Games answer some of our questions. So what do fans of NHL 2K8 have to look forward to this year?

'Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes' (PSP) Interview – Andrew Davis

Submitted by thankeeka on August 2, 2007 - 3:22pm. Exclusive Interviews

It's just not very practical to walk around, see someone you don't like, and then challenge them to a fight. Frankly, it's just not very civilized, and one day you'll pick on the wrong person and wind up face down in a gutter, black eye and everything. Perhaps it's a good thing then that Sony created the PSP and developers created Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes, because now you'll be able to challenge other PSP owners on the go, and you won't have to get bloody at all. During a recent conference call, we talked with Andrew Davis – the localization specialist at Namco Bandai Games – to see what we can expect from the PSP Naruto fighter.

'Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2' (PS2) Interview – Andrew Davis

Submitted by thankeeka on August 1, 2007 - 2:10pm. Exclusive Interviews

To date, Naruto hasn't done much in videogames, outside of what we've already seen in the manga or either anime series. Usually fans are playing the same battles over and over again, which though interesting the first time, by the second or third time around we know how everything plays out. Luckily, fans have the Uzumaki Chronicles to spice things up, delivering on a Naruto story that has never been read or seen before. Killer Betties got to attend a conference call with Andrew Davis – the localization specialist at Namco Bandai Games – to see what we can expect from the sophomore effort in the Uzumaki Chronicles series.

Submitted by thankeeka on July 23, 2007 - 2:30pm. Exclusive Interviews

When you think of angels, you probably think of halos, eagel like wings, and harps that tinkle melodically. Of course, if you were looking at SACRED 2: Fallen Angel, you'd see these Seraphim are anything but that, with their laser wings, battle ready faces, and armed to the teeth with sword and shield. However, there's much more to the game than just butt-kicking angels. We talked with SACRED 2's Project Lead - Peter Kullgard - to find out what else the game has in store for players.

We've also got some exclusive screenshots of the game, which you'll only be able to find right here.

Submitted by thankeeka on May 16, 2007 - 1:17pm. Exclusive Interviews

Fire HandPure Tolkien fantasy seems to be the go to choice when it comes for designing the world of a MMORPG, but things are about to change with the release of Sword of the New World, which should hopefully be coming sometime soon. Sword of the New World differentiates itself in several different ways, including a 15th century architecture and visual look, plus the ability to have a whole family of avatars, with you controlling three members at a time when battling. Killer Betties got to ask Phil Maurer – the Operations Team Leader – some questions about the game to see what we can expect from the game.

Winifred Phillips Interview

Submitted by thankeeka on May 15, 2007 - 2:10pm. Exclusive Interviews

Winifred PhillipsWhen a videogame is released, all you ever see are the graphics and screenshots of the game, because people know that graphics sell. Oftentimes it seems that the sound work of a videogame is overlooked, or not given the attention it deserves. But imagine taking your favorite game, one that really set your heart racing or had you emotionally invested in it, and try playing the game with everything muted – it would be a very dull world perhaps, and without the musical influences of the game you just might not find yourself caring as much. Recently, Killer Betties got to interview Winifred Phillips, one of the top female videogame composers in the industry, who has worked on such games as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Da Vinci Code, and was even rewarded for her contribution to the first God of War game. With the Shrek The Third game – her most recent game composing work - hitting stores today, we talked with Winifred to hear about her work in the gaming industry.

Killer Women: Theresa Pudenz

Submitted by thankeeka on April 24, 2007 - 12:10pm. Exclusive Killer Women

Women who are gainfully employed in the games industry are becoming more and more common. The assumption that video games are a man's domain is finally becoming outdated. Women are playing and working with video games in astounding numbers. According to the ESA in 2006, 38% of game players are women. While the percentage of women working in the industry is still small, these women are paving the way for equality in this environment as well. More and more young women are going to technical schools and getting hired by game developers who see the value of a female perspective when creating video games.
