Funky Farm 2

0

I really like farm management games, which is odd since I can’t keep a real plant alive, but after playing Harvest Moon, FarmCraft, Farm Frenzy and so many others, I wasn’t sure there was any room left for new farming games. I didn’t know if Funky Farm 2 by SortaSoft could bring anything new that other farm sims hadn’t already done.

The premise begins just like any other time management game. Raise your chickens, sheep, and pigs to maximize profits, unlock new animals and farm tools as you improve. But when I saw the rewards, I quickly realized this is not another rinse-and-repeat farm sim. Players don’t receive the typical bigger watering can or a new seed to cover more ground. As you play Funky Farm, you unlock a mailbox for government farm grants, a pet llama, a pet duck and other funny farmyard surprises.

Back in business again!

As some of you may have noticed, there hasn't been a lot of up dating lately. The reasons for it were twofold, mainly my PC fried and it took me some time to get another decent one for games, and a very busy holiday season.

But that is all fixed now, and KB will go back to daily updates and game reviews, so keep checking in!

Looking for Group Expo Coming in June 2010!

1

There's been a fan event that has been sorely lacking in our industry. We have Penny Arcade expo which is a great general gaming event and there's Comic-con, which covers a portion of the gaming industry. GenCon also has a side show for gaming, but nothing really focuses on the special needs of the MMO player. A lot of games hold their individual events, but just because a person plays one game doesn't mean they wouldn't like to socialize with others playing other games, right?

So I'm very excited to be involved in the Looking for Group Expo. It is going to be in June 2010 in Minneapolis. It will be a celebration of the MMO gamer and will be a lot of fun! We'll have events that cater to pretty much every type of MMO gamer, whether you are an achiever, a socializer, an explorer or a killer, or a mix of all these types. (For the record, when I took the test, I got 0% killer. Crazy, huh?)

So stay tuned to this site for more news on this exciting event.

Little Shop - World Traveler Review

0

There are many ways a hidden object game can be great. It can have the most amazing and compelling story. The Hidden Object portion can be stellar. There can be mini-games that just entertain for hours. Or it can be an average game that drives you to unlock every portion the game has to offer. Little Shop - World Traveler is just that. It manages a level of replayability that I've yet seen in a hidden object game and that takes this not so standout title to the next level.

First off, the story is a throwaway. It doesn't really matter at all why you are searching the various scenes. As a travel writer, you are exploring exotic venues, from Venice to Antarctica to Madagascar. Each of the scenes does a fairly good job transporting you to those locations. There's about 80 or so objects to find in each scene, although in the story mode, you only have to find 15 and are given a list of a 5 at a time to do just that. There's also a plethora of collectibles, from question marks that give you hints to passport stamps to suitcases. To find the 15 in story mode, you only have 5 minutes. You will do each scene 5 times by the end of story mode, so that's ample opportunity to find all the collectibles. However, I found at the end of story mode, I hadn't done that yet, thanks to some well hidden collectibles. As for the objects themselves, they are usually pretty easy to find and the collectibles, like the cameras that flash all the objects and the special exclamation points that use a search feature special to each screen, make any particularly hard to find objects a snap to discover.
