Anarchy Online

Submitted by mr715 on March 22, 2009 - 7:28pm. MMO-F2P (PC)

Anarchy Online - FuncomAnarchy Online (AO) is a science fiction themed massive multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG). The first three expansion packs, Notum Wars, Shadowlands and Alien Invasion, have received high praise and won 20 international awards.
Step almost 30,000 years into the future, to an age where common surgical implants and microscopic nano-bots can relieve most forms of human suffering... or transform any normal being into a weapon of destructive force.

On the planet of Rubi-Ka, a battle rages between the haves and have-nots in a time when the clans seek liberation from the all-powerful Omni-Tek corporation in the name of justice, voluntarily if possible; from the barrel of a gun if necessary. The leaders of both sides are desperately seeking a solution that can stop the violence ravaging the planet, against a backdrop of betrayal, military raids and conniving political games, cyborg assassins and modified humans.

You are 30,000 years into the future. You're in the age... of Anarchy Online.

E3 2006: Genuine Games for Girls - Mini-Preview

Submitted by BMunchausen on May 11, 2006 - 1:24pm. Game Preview

Gordon Ross, CEO of Genuine Games, has a vision for tapping into that elusive female market. His small Scottish game company has its sights set on creating non-violent, family friendly game content that's easy to understand and easy to play. His goal is to make games the casual gamer (target market being ages 8-25 but includes all ages and both genders) can pick up and have fun with for a short time without a big time commitment.

The company's publishing a series of vocational simulations under the title of YooStar publishing, that he hopes will draw in a whole section of the public who currently doesn't play games. The first title, "Fashion Salon" is what you'd expect in a girl game; it's pink, it's got a simple interface (almost childlike actually in simplicity) and is extremely simple in concept. You get to make the "clients" over in a very simple way; makeup, hairstyle, hats, etc. by clicking on big pink buttons. There's unfortunately no way to do more complex alterations like say changing body type or a character's facial structure. You are then graded according to the level of success achieved through the makeover. And how is success determined?

Your Ad Could be Here!

"Advertising is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it."

Chuck Blore, a partner in the advertising firm Chuck Blore & Don Ruchman, Inc., quoted by Ben H. Bagdikian, The Media Monopoly, Sixth Edition, (Beacon Press, 2000), p.185.

Is advertising part of the ignorable landscape, or is my dwarven paladin going to be doing quests for Pepsi?
