Valve's Steam Service Hacked, Credit Card Information Obtained

Submitted by thankeeka on April 19, 2007 - 11:56am. General News

I hate hackers. I guess I don't see the point of hacking someone's computer or information for their own benefit and so they learn something. I have a security hole? Tell me, don't put up some odd picture nobody wants to see. That's like letting me walk up to the hacker, smack them in the face, and call them names when I could just write a post calling you a jerk. And to threaten a company by sharing the credit card info of their users - well, who doesn't hope something bad happens to the hacker?

From the article:

Valve's Steam content distribution system has apparently been hacked. The culprit allegedly got deep enough into the system to steal credit card information and financial information on Valve. DailyTech reports the hacker known as "MaddoxX" broke in and obtained:

-Screenshots of internal Valve web pages
-A portion of Valve's Cafe directory
-Error logs
-Credit card information of customers
-Financial information on Valve
