The Wii is probably the most accessible system out there for women looking to get into videogames for the first time. Wii Fit is going to be a huge draw in general, and when you have someone like Tina Yothers doing ads for the game during episodes of Celebrity Bootcamp on VH1 it should come as no surprise that Nintendo is heavily targeting women with the game. Peter Moore is looking at also using the Wii Board for EA's own fitness game, and women seem to be their main target. read more | login or register to post comments

Game Design Competition scholarship of up to $10,000 designed to educate and recruit more women into the field of video game production and design. Sponsored by Sony Online Entertainment LLC. Well, it seems the casting call has come to a close, and that the newest on-air personality will be bunnyXablaze. Is she the best for the job? Out of the nominees the only one I'm familiar with and thought would've been the easy favorite to win was Aktrez, but not everything turns out how you'd think. Firing Squad now has up an article talking about a new scholarship program designed for women. Here is an excerpt: "At a press event today at a local nightclub in San Francisco, Sony Online Entertainment announced plans to launch a new game development scholarship program designed specifically for females. The program is called G.I.R.L. (Gamers In Real Life) Scholarship and is being developed in cooperation with the Arts Institute. The idea is to put more women in gaming development positions."
