Is there or isn't there? Sony isn't one to play their cards, but yet they're also known to say one thing and the other thing ends up being the truth. So are people who want a PS3 price drop going to be happy when July 15th comes around? It's a wait and see mentality for now.

As analysts, publishers and gamers have continued to wonder when (and if) Sony would issue a price drop for the PlayStation 3 in the near future, a mere advertisement may have confirmed it. The DVD Talk forums discovered an early copy of a Circuit City flyer promoting a $100 price break on PS3 starting on July 17th, bringing it down $499.

Later, Kotaku actually discovered the ad and scanned it online. When 1UP originally approached Sony Computer Entertainment America about the price drop, we were told: "Circuit City hasn't announced any price drop on PS3, so we have no comment." After a little prodding, that turned into: "That CC flyer is just a rumor, so we don't have anything else to comment on regarding it."
