It is news stories like this that makes me glad that, though I could hold a job as a paralegal, I'm glad I'm currently writing for all you readers out there instead of being part of the problem like this firm in this news story. Are they out to make the Wii safer for people? Of course not, they are just in it to make a name for themselves and make money. And it isn't like Nintendo isn't fixing their problem - I just ordered two straps for free. Besides, how were they supposed to know so many people would be idiots and swing their remotes as if they were seriously throwing a 90 mpg fastball in Wii Sports.
From the article:
Nintendo's controller for its new Wii game console has generated a ton of media attention thanks in part to people damaging objects and even people when the motion sensitive controller gets out of people's hands. Many have blamed the controller's wrist strap which many found to be flimsy. Nintendo announced a voluntary recall of the straps and also quietly replaced them with stronger versions in later Wii shipments to stores. However, this press release from law firm Green Welling LLP has announced that the firm has filed a class action lawsuit against Nintendo charging the company with breaching its own warrenty for what they call "the defective nature of the Nintendo Wii." Here is a snip:
The class action lawsuit seeks to enjoin Nintendo from continuing its unfair or deceptive business practices as it relates to the Nintendo Wii.The lawsuit also seeks an injunction that requires Nintendo to correct the defect in the Wii remote and to provide a refund to the purchaser or to replace the defective Wii remote with a Wii remote that functions as it is warranted and intended.
