EA: Casual Gamers Don't Care About Reviews

When you hear the news about how casual gamers don't care about the reviews, you want to just go, "What?" But when you think about it, the thinking does make sense. You should never solely base a decision on one review, as it should just be one factor or opinion leading to your own, but in the end it should be your decision anyways. And it seems the more technical or hardcore the game, the more we rely on reviews, while the more casual games we tend to rely more on instinct and just the natural draw regarding what we want to play.

From the article:

Casual gamers are a different sort. They don't obsess over Achievement Points, they don't argue on message boards, and they probably aren't even reading this article. EA Casual recognizes the differences, and various spokespeople have made some interesting comments to that effect.

"I get less concerned about game reviews because the casual gamers don't read any of those things," said Kathy Vrabeck, EA Casual President, in an interview with Next Generation."They're not swayed by a low score on IGN or a low score out of one of these gaming sites. It's a little bit amusing, in that it's people reviewing games against measures that are important to core gamers yet are not important to casual gamers."
